Have you ever exclaimed to a friend or family member,"why is this ATS auto-rejecting my resume?! I'm so qualified!"
🗣️ Spoiler alert - you're not getting auto-rejected by the ATS system.
Tune in below for the real reason you may be getting rejected and follow me here and at 24 Hour Search for more job seeker advice.
If you watched the whole video, you can see: context and relevancy are key.
Relevancy example:
If the job doesn’t list payroll as a core competency, don’t include ten bullet points about payroll. Even if you’re proud of it. The hard truth is that many hiring managers and recruiters don’t use their imagination. If it’s not directly relevant to the role, it likely won’t be considered.
Context example:
“100% YoY growth” means nothing without context. That could mean going from one client to two, or from $100 to $200 in revenue. It’s far more impactful to say,
“Achieved 100% YoY growth, taking the company from $2,000,000 to $4,000,000 in ARR by doing XYZ.”
This is exactly what I help my clients do. Make their experience clear, relevant, and aligned with the roles they want.
